Roulette, a game that includes chips, a wheel and a layout of numbers on a table originated from France. It is a popular game in casinos all over the world having started near the end of seventeenth century. The name of the game means a little wheel in French. Ways on How to Play Roulette is described.

Europeans use a wheel with a zero and thirty six other numbers. Their American counterparts have an extra 00 on top of the European wheel. This gives the American wheel a five point two six percent house edge due to the inclusion of the extra number. The house edge is the casino profit that comes from the bet. It is also the probability that the winner will be paid the full amount by the casino on winning the bet.

The betting table has 36 numbers divided into three rows. 0 and 00 are placed on top of the table. The numbers are subdivided into three sections of twelve numbers each. These numbers are also subdivided into sections of 1-18, 19-36, sections of odd and even numbers. There are also black and red numbers. Players place bets on the table to numbers that corresponds to numbers that they think that the ball will land.

Players place bets by anticipating which numbers or pockets that the spinning ball will stop at. They have an option of placing inside or outside bets. Inside bets are made to specific numbers on the table while outside bets are made on boxes surrounding the numbers. Inside bets have higher odds for payouts. They include, Split betting is placed any two numbers and has a ratio of 17:1 payout. If a player places a bet on a single number, it is called a straight up betting and has a payout at a ratio of 35:1

You can bet on two numbers, called split betting, with a payout of 17:1. There is also three numbers betting, called street betting with a payout ratio of 11:1. You can also bet on three numbers with a single chip. You do this by placing the chip at the end of the three numbers you are betting (the three are referred as the street). There is also betting on four numbers called corner betting. It has payout of 8:1

There is also Corner betting on four numbers and pays at 8 to 1ratio. You can also have the chip lying in the intersection of four numbers. There is also Betting on six numbers (6-line betting) and pays at 5 to 1 ratio. You can also have your chip lying at the edge of two adjoining streets. In the American roulette, one can have 5-number bet that covers 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3, with a payout of 6:1. It also has a row 00 bet that covers 0, and 00 with a payout ratio of 17 to 1.

When placing an outside bet, you place chips on boxes surrounding numbers. Its range includes a Dozen bet where you pick twelve numbers in a row. You may place your chip on numbers 1-12-24,1-12 and 25-36. If the ball lands on even numbers or 00, it is a loss. It has a pay ratio of 2 to 1. One can also place red, black, even or odd number bets which are considered money bets. Finally, bet on a single on of three columns. It has a payout ratio of 2 to 1 and bets are made at the bottom.

Players always carry a placard describing minimum and maximum inside and outside bets. There are also highlights of earlier ball landing for comparison. One should watch ball releases for insight. The player can also buy chips to differentiate his from others and cash in on leaving the table.
