Basketball Drills That Guards Need To Do

By Jashua Moses

Teaching kids about basketball can be one of the most exciting things for people to do. The problem that people often have is trying to figure out what kind of drills they can do with the kids. This is when people need to know more about the drills that are present for them to do with the kids to guarantee the kids are able to play the sport properly and actually enjoy the game.

One of the easiest drills for a beginner is dribbling. Stand in one place and dribble the ball 10-20 times getting a feel for the ball and how it reacts to the court. Once you have done this you can begin moving with the ball while still dribbling it. Keeping the ball at a little above hip height and on one side is a good way to start.

Once you have mastered basic dribbling you can begin to improve upon your skills. Try going up and down the court faster with the ball. Other alternative include dribbling around cones and dribbling in circles. With practice you will be able to predict how the ball will react when you are playing. Another important drill for beginners is passing. Line up and pass the ball first across between two players. Once the players have a feel for this begin passing via bouncing the ball a single time between the two players. The next steps can include passing to someone on either side of you, or passing while moving.

Since this is the guards are going to be able to get the plays done properly. If you train well and practice your drills long enough, you can impress your fans with excellent passes, so they are going to love you and give you standing ovations at every match.

Playing defense is another thing you need to teach your kids. Without a good defense, games will be dull and kids will lose their interest in playing basketball. You need to keep them motivated to stay alert at all times during a game. That's something a good defense strategy can do.

With the simple drills listed here you will be able to build up your basic basketball skills quickly. Every player that has a grasp of the basic skills has a good foundation to build upon. This makes you better equipped to learn the skills that other players have and to be at the top of your game.
